Md. Rahenul Islam joined LGSP-3 on 21/07/2020 as Deputy Project Director. He is a 22 batch officer of BCS (Administration) cadre. Prior to joining the project, he was the First Secretary (Tax Administration) of the National Board of Revenue for more than two years. Working in this important position, he acquired skills in human resource management.

At the field level, he served as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Gazipur and as Additional District Magistrate for more than 2 years. During his tenure as Additional District Magistrate, he has been instrumental in concluding workers’ grievances in various industrial factories in Gazipur and convening more than 20 inquiry committees into industrial accidents. Moreover, he has played an active role as a member of the National Committee in the preparation of SOP on boiler management in industrial plants. He has worked as Upazila Nirbahi Officer in 2 Upazilas. During this time he gained practical skills to work in project implementation and development administration through coordination with public representatives, government and non-government organizations. During his tenure as Assistant Commissioner (Land) before the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, he had witnessed remarkable success in reclaiming and settling khas lands. Recovering about 250 acres of khas land, he gave khas land settlement to a total of about 400 landless families including 100 landless heroic freedom fighters / freedom fighter families and explained their possession and acceptance, which was appreciated at the national level. During his career he has traveled to India, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia on government training / tours. He has served as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate in the Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Md. Rahenul Islam holds a master’s degree in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology from Dhaka University. He was born in the village of Jalalatair in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district to an aristocratic traditional Muslim zamindar (former) family. In private life he is married and has one daughter. His wife is a housewife.
