Senior Grant Management Specialist, LGSP-3, LGD
Agha Azharul Islam Chowdhury is serving Local Governance Support Project –III (LGSP-3), LGD since December, 2017. Prior this position he served last 10 years in Ministry of Planning, Planning Commission as Financial Management Specialist of PPRP-II, CPTU, IMED and ECRRP project of Planning Division both were financed by the World Bank.
During his successful career in Department of Youth Development (DYD) Dhaka HQ, Marine
Fisheries Academy (MFA), Chittagong and Former Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) in Accounts discipline. He has more than 28 years experience of working in the area of Financial Management. He served national; International, government and autonomous organization in supervisory and managerial position and he also an individual consultant of foreign aided development (ADB & World Bank) project.
He obtained both his Honors’ Bachelor and Master’s Degree in the discipline of Management from the University of Chittagong. He also obtained an MBA in Accounts & Finance and also Completed CACC course under ICAB.
Agha Azharul Islam Chowdhury participated in a number of training courses at national and
International, such as PPR-2008 & PPA-2006 (Procurement training on Goods, Service & works) organized by Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of IMED, Office management, Financial Management & Administration & also Office discipline Course conduct by Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC). International training course on Procurement and Financial Management of World Bank support projects in India (Hyderabad Administrative Staff College & Indian Institute of Finance, Haryana). Training course on “Strategic Management” conducted by Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Thailand.
As a part of official and personal responsibility, he travelled many countries across the globe,
Such as USA, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Nepal and so one. He actively engaged in many socio-cultural activities.
Agha Azharul Islam Chowdhury was born at Bijoykara of Chouddagram Upazila under Cumilla district. He is married and blessed by two sons
