A J Minhaj Uddin Ahmad joined Local Governance Support Project-3 as Capacity Building Specialist on 24 July 2018. Prior to his joining here, he served LGSP-2 as Senior Capacity Building Specialist from September 2012 to June 2016. Before that he started his career as Lecturer in Political Science in Bhawal Badre Aam College, Gazipur from April 1977 to October 1978. Then he joined Rural Development Academy (RDA) Bogra in November 1978 and served RDA in various capacities up to January 2010 and retired from there as Director (Social Sciences). He has a long track of record as professional trainer. Simultaneously, he also served as individual consultant in different donor-funded projects, of which are LGSP-2, Bangladesh Water Supply Program Project, Curriculum Development & Program Implementation (CDPI) (Post-Literacy & Continuing Education for Human Development), Climate Resilient Infrastructure Improvement in Coastal Zone Project(CRIICZP); and Water Supply and Sanitation in the Coastal Belt Project, Bangladesh. Apart from these, he also served as National Project Director of a UNDP-funded Project titled as “Community Empowerment for Poverty Alleviation” from 1997 to 2002. In addition, he also served as Social Intermediate Specialist under Urban, Water and Sanitation Unit, South Asia Sustainable Development Unit (SASDU), The World Bank, Dhaka Office from January to August 2012 .
Mr. Minhaj completed his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka in1974 and did his second Masters in Development Administration from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1989. His areas of specialization are in planning, management and coordination of training activities, institutional development linked with strategies and approaches for hygiene, health, sanitation and water supply, gender and development, decentralization, social mobilization, community empowerment, rural development and poverty alleviation.
During his professional life, he has attended many national and international seminars, workshops and short training courses at home and abroad. He has also attended Certificate Course on “Sharing British Training Expertise” at the Institute of Management, London & Industrial Training Service Ltd., UK in 1984. Besides, he has attended Certificate Course on “Certificate in Training and Development”, Institute of Training and Development, 1984, UK.
He was born in 1953 and he hails from the countryside of Mymensingh. He spent his early life in the rural areas of Mymensingh and completed his school education including SSC from Bhaitkandi High School, Phulpur, Mymensingh in 1968.
